Who this is for
Design-led hospitality and residential construction.
Design flexibility
Framed pods can be configured for a variety of shower, vanity and wall finishes. Repeatability still matters: a design library with approved variations tends to be easier to procure than dozens of one-off room types.
- Agree finishes with the architect and operator.
- Coordinate bathroom dimensions, waterproofing and tile build-ups.
- Identify critical components with long procurement lead times.
Technical coordination
A steel frame is not evidence of a complete compliant assembly. Review fire performance, acoustics, deflection, waterproofing strategy, service penetrations and tolerances with the project consultants.
- Require documented system build-ups and test evidence.
- Approve lifting and structural support details.
- Plan access for valves, traps and other maintainable elements.
Factory checks and handover
Agree sample sign-off, inspection gates and a clear defects process before production. Include protection requirements for tiles and fittings during transport and installation.
- Specify water testing and inspection records.
- Confirm factory completion vs on-site finishing.
- Make aftercare and replacement parts contractual deliverables.
Questions project buyers ask
Are steel-framed pods only for luxury hotels?
No. They can serve many sectors, but their finish flexibility is especially relevant to design-led hotels and residential schemes.
Can the main contractor supply selected fittings?
Potentially, but responsibilities for procurement, warranty, compatibility and delivery to the factory must be agreed.
Decision note
Codes, permits and system performance vary by location and selected manufacturer. Ask your architect, MEP consultants and approving authorities to review the specific proposal before contract award.
